Why Did We Start a Pottery Club?

While our club was founded in 2022, our roots go back
much further.

Club Co-Founders Brynn and Danielle have been active members of the Rochester, NY Ceramics community for 10+ years. As students they experienced workshops, earned degrees, and participated in multiple types of pottery firings. And as teachers, they helped countless students experience clay, create one-of-a-kind pieces of artwork, and make friends.

After several years teaching at a local community studio, Brynn and Danielle set out to establish a studio with stress-free, social focused approach. Teachers at heart, they understood the challenges a traditional classroom brought, the pressure it could put on students and the teachers, as well as the expectations it brought.

Their solution, was to take their favorite parts of the ceramics experience, and blend them with fresh, new ideas. Their new approach lead to them avoiding the classroom altogether, instead leading to the creation of the Wheel and Slab pottery club instead.

This new social club would emphasize the exceptional making and socializing power that clay provides. It would be a a place with policies and approaches that helped to minimize stress, and ensure the club experience was a highlight of each and every members day.

Club Vision

To create a social experience that fully realizes the transformative
power of clay as a medium and clay as a community.

Club Mission

Each and every day we’ll work to ensure our club is creating experiences for our members that
foster strong social connections, embraces expression, and helps our members find peace
and relaxation even on the busiest of days.

  • Just like clay comes in many forms, shapes, and colors, we believe that every individual, no matter their race, ethnicity, gender identity or sexual orientation deserves respect.

Our studio will always be safe space, committed to creating long lasting friendships and connections.

  • Our studio has been designed to encourage great conversation and help create lasting friendships. We believe that a well run, accepting social space can help promote self care, and improve the mental health of the clay and surrounding community.

  • We are bombarded by a seemingly never ending list of work commitments and responsibilities. We believe that we all deserve a little space, and place where we can spread out and create, at our own pace.

Committed to Diversity,
Equity, and Inclusion
