These are the people who help keep our pottery studio going. From everyday studio management, to developing new pottery classes, and teaching students, we couldn’t be prouder of our team.

Danielle Pagani

Co-Founder, Studio Manager

Danielle graduated from Alfred University with a Bachelor's in Ceramic Arts and founded Wheel & Slab in late spring 2022 with her partner, Brynn.

With over 15 years of experience, Danielle has taught pottery to children, teens, adults, and seniors, and has attended workshops with nationally and internationally renowned ceramic artists.

Danielle lives in Rochester with her partner Brynn and their 2 dogs, Maggie and Avery. She loves animals and is passionate about art, nature, science, and any form of trivia. She hopes to help create a stronger clay community in Rochester, NY by helping others explore the art form.

Brynn Capwell

Brynn graduated from RIT with a Bachelor's in New Media Interactive Development and help co-found Wheel & Slab in late spring 2022 with her partner, Danielle.

She learned how to make pottery taking classes with the likes of Adam Spector, Deborah Benedetto and Peter Pincus at the nearby Turk Hill Craft School.

Like Danielle she has many years of experience teaching others how to work with clay, and she’s attended workshops with artists like Jon Stein, Mike Carroll, Eric Botbyl, and Tim See.

Brynn lives in Rochester with her partner Danielle and their 2 dogs. She enjoys film photography, fabriction, and finding new and engaging ways to teach others about the things she loves. Along with Danielle, She hopes to help create a stronger clay community in Rochester, NY.

Sydney Gape-DeRoo

Sydney (She/Her) is our resident artist for 2024-2024. She graduated from Nazareth College with a Bachelor’s in Art History. During her time there she took courses in ceramics, including wheel throwing.

Passionate about exploring career opportunities in arts, she is thrilled to be part of Wheel & Slab, where she can both create and teach.

Her work continues to evolve, and features elements of sgraffito surface design, and historical references.

Sydney lives in Rochester, NY with her husband Will and their cat Tortellini. She enjoys pop culture, has a great sense of humor, and is always excited to dive into new projects and creative opportunities.

Abby Warrick

Pottery Teacher

Abby (She/Her) graduated with a degree in mechanical drawing. She is a Wheel & Slab Pottery Club member, and our intro to pottery instructor.

Abby loves sharing her knowledge about making pottery with others. Her work ranges from large bowls, to vase forms, mugs and more.

Abby lives in Rochester, NY with her partner Eddie. She enjoys Dungeons and Dragon, is an avid trivia fan, and is always looking for ways to improve her ceramic skills. Amy hopes to help introduce more great people to the growing Rochester, NY ceramics community.
